River Bed Wood Fired Vase
$265.00
Wood-soda fired in a catenary arch kiln nicknamed "chicken cat", this vase harnesses natures elements fully - water and earth in the making process, fire in the finishing process and air in the 2 week cooling process. This piece fired in a wood-fueled kiln for 3 days, and no glaze was applied to the shelf before firing. All surface color and decoration you see is from melted wood ash and soda ash, and materials within the clay coming to the surface through the alchemical process of firing. The carving was done at the leather hard stage and resembles a vessel left in a river bed for water to erode over time.
