Psilocybe Mushroom Pitcher

This pitcher went through a reduction cooled anagama kiln. An anagama is a wood fired kiln where burning wood is the heat source. Towards the end of the firing (about day 6-7), the ports where wood is usually being stoked to keep the flame lit and heat up are closed off and the flames/kiln are starved of oxygen for 6 hours, forcing the fire in the kiln to pull oxygen from the only remaining source-the pots themselves. The fire inside becomes almost liquid, like plasma, and results in rough surfaces, vibrant colors, carbon trapping and wild textures.

This piece went in naked, so all the colors and textures you see are purely from molten wood ash and heat!
